Anne L. Smith, Esq. is a Ukrainian-born Regulatory Counsel and Principal of WelcomePath Legal. She provides strategic analysis on a spectrum of issues related to immigration law and policy. She advises individuals, families, institutions, and nonprofits on short-term and long-term entry options into the United States, legal rights, status changes, and pathways to citizenship. Her relevant insights help clients better understand various immigration avenues, assess their compliance with key statutes, and stay up-to-date on regulatory changes.  

Building on experience gained in the public and private sectors, she understands the needs and perspectives of various stakeholders. Her public sector experience includes the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and the District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Financial Officer. She also held previous regulatory compliance positions at law firms, where she advised businesses, financial institutions, investors, and organizations.

Anne is the Executive Director of the Ukraine Immigration Task Force, a nonprofit legal coalition that seeks to help Ukrainians fleeing war find refuge in the United States. In addition to interacting with federal agencies and drafting guidance to the public on key immigration topics facing Ukrainians, she helps identify challenges facing Ukrainians in the United States while advocating for sustainable solutions. She also manages strategic partnerships with resettlement agencies and other nonprofits that provide outreach and educational resources. 

Anne is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition, and a pro bono attorney for Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services of the Archdiocese of Washington.​
